Description:

Manufactured c. 1861-1865. Two cartouches stamped on the left stock wrist.

Rating Definition:

Good with some original finish, brown and gray patina on the balance with scattered spotting/corrosion and some light pitting. Wood is good as re-oiled, with scattered light dents and scratches, a few empty holes, and visible cartouches. Absent saddle bar and ring assembly on the left, with empty holes. Hammer has no spring pressure, non-functional, mechanically needs work.

Description:

Approximately 20,000 Second Model Maynard carbines were manufactured between 1864-1865, with this example marked with an "1865" date on the lower tang, likely a late delivered example of a Second Model carbine. Two boxed script inspection cartouches stamped on the left stock wrist.

Rating Definition:

Good with traces of original finish, mostly smooth brown and gray patina, scattered spotting/corrosion and pitting. Stock is also good as re-oiled, with scattered dents, scratches, cracks, and defined cartouches. Absent rear lower tang screw, stock is slightly loose. Mechanically fine.
