Rating Definition:

Good overall with a mottled gray patina, pitting, scattered pitting, most of the original silver plating remaining on the grip straps, handling marks on grip. Mechanically fine.

Description:

Manufactured in 1862, visible numbers match. Back strap inscribed with the name "S. Smithers." Per consignor "S. Smithers" is Private Samuel Smithers who served with the Co. G, 8th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. Smithers is listed among the enlisted in this regiment.

Rating Definition:

Good overall with a smooth dark brown patina, grip with high edge wear. Mechanically fine.
