A) European Jaeger Rifle with Relief Carved Stock

Manufactured c. mid-1800s. No visible maker markings.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with some original finish concentrated on the breech end of the barrel with smooth brown and gray patina, scattered freckling and light pitting. Stock is also very good as re-oiled, with defined carvings, and some cracks and scattered scratches and dents, chips and an absent section at the right of the forend tip, and chips and cracks in the reattached trigger guard. Absent tang sight. Mechanically fine.

Description:

Likely manufactured as a flintlock in 1672 and updated to percussion c. mid-1800s. "1672" date marking on top of the barrel surrounding a makers logo that appears to be "VB".

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, with some of the finish, brown patina, scattered corrosion and pitting, and visible barrel markings. Stock is also good as re-oiled, with numerous scattered dents, scratches, chips, cracks, and some absent sections. Absent rear sight, absent front barrel retaining pin. The vent hole is plugged with residue, otherwise mechanically fine.
