A) U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1888 Trapdoor Rifle

Bore Condition: The bore is partially bright with strong rifling and some minor streaking/oxidation.
Description:

Manufactured in 1892. Fitted with a walnut stock marked with a boxed "SWP/1892" cartouche on the left of the wrist. Buttplate tang stamped "US" over "A/10/6", per consignor indicates A Troop, 10th Cavalry (Buffalo soldiers), Trooper number 6. Includes a ramrod bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Good, with some traces of original finish in protected areas, scattered brown patina, light spotting, some minor pitting, and minor handling marks. The stock is fine as sanded and re-oiled with numerous minor handling marks and various cracks. Mechanically excellent.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with strong rifling and some minor streaking.
Description:

Manufactured in 1904. Bolt fitted with a modern replacement Buehler marker marked flag safety. Fitted with a walnut handguard and grasping groove stock with boxed "JSA/1903" cartouche on the left of the wrist. Includes a M1907 pattern leather sporting sling, a brass muzzle cap, a "US" marked and "1898" dated bayonet, and metal scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining some of the original finishes with some light edge wear, brown patina visible mostly on the barrel bands, muted case colors on the receiver, scattered minor patches of spotting, and light handling marks. The stock is very fine as sanded and re-oiled with a clear cartouche. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is fine.
