Bore Condition: The bore is bright and has distinct rifling.
Description:

The factory letter lists this rifle in .22 Short with a 30 inch #3 octagonal barrel, Schuetzen set trigger, Helm buttplate, plain wood stock with checkered pistol grip, and graduated peep and globe sights. It was received in the warehouse on March 5, 1906, and shipped the same day in order 46765. The letter also lists a repair and return dated of January 19, 1911, in order 33933. The rifle was subsequently engraved. "17/HOUSTON" is inscribed on the bottom of the action, a scene of a bighorn is engraved on the right, an elk scene is on the left, and both scenes are surrounded by scrollwork. The right side of the butt has an inscription oval. The rifle is equipped with a Winchester "8-X" marked scope in Winchester mounts.

Rating Definition:

Very good as upgraded and refinished with much of the blue finish remaining, smooth brown patina on the balance, crisp engraving, light pitting, rubbed inscription, and general mild wear. Mechanically fine. The optics are fairly clear with a little haziness.
