Dagger in the Style of the USMC Chinese Embassy Guards, with Sheath

14 1/2" OAL, 9 1/2" blade, celluloid grip with enamel accented brass side panels featuring dragons, Nationalist Chinese emblem, and crossed American and Nationalist flags. The included sheath has similar brass furniture, with an USMC eagle/globe/anchor emblem on the throat and a dragon at the tip. Daggers following this pattern are known to have been issued to members of the USMC embassy guard detachment in Shanghai prior to U.S./Japan hostilities breaking out in World War II, with approximately 100 believed made. While pulled out of Shanghai prior to Pearl Harbor, many of those Marines are believed to have been in the Philippines when Japan invaded.

ConditionFair, with spotting and a mixed patina on the blade, some dents on the sheath, and mild handling marks overall.
