Manufactured in 1896, subsequently arsenal reconfigured as a Model 1889/24 Artillery Carbine. "1896" dated receiver, "crown/31" proofed, with "1R/5558" marked brass unit disc on the right of the buttstock.

Fine as arsenal refurbished and reconfigured, with much of the finish, some minor pitting visible underneath the finish, and some light handling marks. Stock is very good as sanded and re-oiled, with some light scratches and dents, and a hairline crack visible on the right of the wrist. Mechanically excellent.
