The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed on August 17, 1906 for an O. Heriot as the No. 1 of a pair of hammerless ejector game guns with 30 inch Whitworth Steel barrels and chambered for the 10 gauge 2 5/8 inch case. The barrels show the original London nitro proof marks on the flats along with an import marking under the forend. The Beesley patent action displays Purdey's classic bouquet and scroll engraving. The wood is attractively figured with a comb section spliced onto the stock. Gold inlaid "1"s on the barrel rib, toplever, and forend indicate the gun was built as part of a set. With a wood and leather takedown case marked "G.J.B" on the lid and a pair of brass and horn snap caps. Chambers with ejectors marked for 1 5/8 oz. loads, chokes measured improved cylinder/modified, and 14 1/4" LOP.

Very fine as professionally refurnished with light handling evidence, some softening of the markings, mix of original case colors and grey patina on the action, some areas of oil loss on the wood, and well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good. A great chance to own a classic English big bore!
