Description:

Includes an extra magazine, owners manual, and cleaning tools. Consignor states this pistol was manufactured in South Africa by Lyttleton Engineering Works (LIW) now Denel Land Systems, from 1996 to 2001.This pistol was designed as a conceal carry weapon for law enforcement and civilian use. The pistol was originally marketed in the United States and Italy. In October of 2000 the gun was subject to a recall due to a small percentage of the guns had problems with their internal safety mechanisms and, when the item was dropped, it could accidentally fire. The recall states that the CP-1, when loaded, can discharge if bumped or dropped. Additional information with any additional recall notices stated that the gun should not be loaded under any circumstances; although some firearms experts and enthusiasts may deem such recall as unnecessary for the mentioned defect, Denel probably took such steps to prevent any accident that may result in a lawsuit, as the primary export market for this pistol was the United States. Denel was having such issues in returning the pistols to the foreign markets after the repairs that they decided to give $500 to the owners instead of completing the repair them and returning them. Out of the 2000 pistols that were shipped to the United States there were a few (including this example) not returned to the Manufacturer and have made this item a rare piece to own.
