Manufactured for Browning by TRW Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio. According to information from TRW, Browning initially requested fifty rifles to be produced and shipped for evaluation. Ultimately, Browning was not satisfied with the wood to metal fit and finish of the first fifty rifles it received and the contract was eventually terminated. Exact production is unknown, but a TRW employee who was connected to the project estimated that about 700 rifles were manufactured. About 250 BLR rifles were stored in a TRW Inc. Euclid plant where they remained at the time the included information was written, except for a few that were intended for presentation to employees connected to the project. It was later agreed upon that the "Browning" name would be removed from the rifles in storage as Browning would not stand behind, nor make repairs to these rifles (this example still has the "Browning" name on the barrel). The serial numbers of those first fifty rifles were in the range of 6K01000-6K02250. Rifles were put together at random and were not in consecutive order. Included is the matching factory box, five various operational sketches, and an assortment of various letters and other information pertaining to the U.S. manufactured BLR rifle.
