Frame dated "AM" (1984). An included factory letter states this Model 92D with serial number "C26162Z" was the prototype to the U.S. production run which was produced for the law enforcement market. The pistol features an Italian frame and U.S. made slide. The slide lacks both roll stamping and model numbers on one side of the slide and also does not feature the normal "PB" in oval marking. This pistol was photographed on the cover of the November 1990 issue of "Guns & Ammo" magazine.
