Winchester Model 1890 Takedown Slide Action Rifle

Second variation of Second Model 1890. Serial number marked only on the lower tang. Blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. Two line Winchester address marked on top of barrel followed by " MOD. 1890". The top of the barrel is marked " 22 LONG" at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three line model designation and patent dates. 3/4 magazine, grooved forearm and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate. The accompanying factory letter shows that the rifle was received in the warehouse on July 26, 1900, shipped from the warehouse on July 27, 1900, returned on July 30, 1900 and changed to Short Caliber, reshipped on August 1, 1900 and returned on October 28, 1907 for repair.

ConditionFine (with exception of wood). The barrel and magazine retain approximately 90-95% of the faded original blue finish with minor muzzle and high edge wear. The receiver has traces of the case colors with the balance and even crisp silver gray. The bolt retains 90% fading finish with light dings. The remaining metal parts are a smooth grayish/brown mottled patina. The wood is refinished with only a few very light handling marks overall. All markings are clear. The action is excellent.
