Outstanding Smith Civil War Carbine

Over 30,000 of these were made during the Civil War by three different contractors. This one was made by American Machine Works of Springfield, Mass. And is so marked among the light lines of markings on the left side of the action. Other information includes patent and agent markings. The "JH" inspector cartouche on the left side of the stock is sharp.

ConditionExcellent. Barrel has 98% original blue finish with approximately 85% original casehardened colors remaining, mostly vivid, with the balance fading to gray. The stock and forearm are excellent with some minor dents and bruises. The action is tight.
