Beautiful 1/2 Scale "Exact Miniature" 1902 DWM Commercial Luger with Presentation Case and Spare Magazine

This is another example of a beautiful 1/2 Scale Exact Miniature pistol. These models were pioneered by the late Raymond Hutchens a police officer from Indianapolis during the 1970s. This tradition was further carried on by Leon E. Crottet a "Master Precision Machinist" from Switzerland who began producing these "Scale Model Firearms" in early 1976. This exact pistol described herein is one of his creations and is pictured in the book "Scale Modern Firearms" on page 22. Each one of these pistols took one full year to manufacture and produce as they would first have to start by creating a set of miniaturized "SCALE" drawings for each and every part, develop and produce the tooling and fixturing to use in the actual manufacturing of these pistols and then duplicate the various markings on the parts. Also each part would have to be heat treated or hardened and polished with the correct contours to match the original pattern. This is really an unbelievable 1/2 scale "Exact Reproduction" example of a fully functional, M1902 DWM Commercial Contract "Fat Barrel" Luger pistol. The level of detail and hand-work that went into manufacturing this pistol is unparalleled and to fully appreciate them you have to be a true firearms enthusiast or master machinist or both. To fully understand and grasp this aspect of these "Scale Miniatures" you really have to see these in person. The level of detail is just striking, each pistol is completely 100% hand-machined both internally and externally and each and every part and each and every component exhibits the appropriate contours, surface finish and profile that exactly duplicates and match the original sample pistol, right down to and including the appropriate part markings, proofs and even the rifling in the barrel. On this pistol the top of the chamber area is blank with the DWM monogram on top of the rear toggle. It has all the appropriate early features such as the dished toggles with the toggle lock on the right side, the deep recessed breech block, long extractor, "Fat Barrel Contour" only found on the 1902 Lugers, the early style grip safety with no stock lug on the rear of the grip frame, with the lower polished safety area. This pistol is correctly marked "GERMANY" on the front of the frame and the wooden base plug is marked "Cal 9 m/m" in script form. The grips are made of an exotic wood with excellent miniature checkering. It has the appropriate "Straw Color" on the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, ejector and magazine release button. This pistol comes complete with a spare commercial contract nickel plated magazine with the correctly marked wooden base plug, nine rounds of miniature 9mm ammo, that has a truncated bullet with a hollow point tip, all housed in a small presentation case made of exotic wood with a light brown interior. This is definitely for the ultimate Luger collector or "the man who has everything".

ConditionNew with 99.9% original finish, the wood checkered grips are also in excellent condition with mint checkering on both sides of the grip panels. The case is also in excellent condition and so is the spare magazine.
