This is an excellent example of a Post-Korean War M1 Garand Rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory. The rifle is serial numbered "5378968" and the barrel is marked "SA-9-54". The metal parts have the dark gray-green parkerized finish found on original production Springfield M1 rifles from this period, and the face of the barrel chamber is bright. The barreled action appears to be original and not overhauled and it has the correct late production SA marked parts with a late production gas cylinder assembly. The rifle has an oiled walnut stock and hand guards and is equipped with a green web sling. The stock is stamped with the Defense Acceptance Stamp on the left side below the receiver and an encircled block "P" proof behind the trigger guard. The bolt has been numbered to the receiver with an electric pencil.
