This highly attractive deluxe variation of Marlin's famed Model 1893 lever action rifle was manufactured in 1897. Model 1893s were a "working gun" and few customers were willing to pay extra for deluxe features. These deluxe models are becoming difficult to find, especially those in high condition like this example. The accompanying factory letter states the rifle was shipped on November 30, 1897 with a 28 inch half octagon barrel in .38-55 caliber, half magazine, and pistol grip stock. The rifle is fitted with a combination Beach front sight, a folding two leaf rear sight, and a tang peep sight. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two-line Marlin legend ahead of the rear sight and the caliber designation "38-55" at the breech. The top of the receiver is stamped "MARLIN SAFETY," and the underside of the receiver has the serial number. The rifle is mounted with nicely figured factory checkered forearm and pistol grip stock. The buttock is fitted with a hard rubber Marlin buttplate.
