World War II Italian Breda 47/32 "Little Elephant" 47 mm Anti-Tank Gun Complete with Wheeled Mount, Class III/NFA Destructive Device

This is an example of a World War II era 47mm Breda manufactured 47/32 anti-tank gun mounted on a wheeled split trail carriage. These were originally designed by the Austrian firm Bohler and manufactured under license and used in the Italian, Austrian, Chinese, Dutch, Finnish, Romanian, Estonian, Latvian, Soviet (captured guns) and Swiss armies. The 47/32 was used both as an infantry close support weapon and effectively as an anti-tank gun with capability of knocking out light to medium armored tanks. Many of these saw use on the Eastern Front as well as in the deserts of North Africa, with some even mounted on light armored vehicles. Due to its shape, the 47/32 was nicknamed "elefantino" (little elephant) by the Italian troops, who were considered the most notable user of these. The left of the gun housing is wearing a small plaque marked "SOCIETA ITALIANA/ERNESTO BREDA/PER COSTPIIZIONI MECCANICHE/MILANO/STABILIMENTO di BRESCIA/ANNO 1939XVIII No 32080".

ConditionVery good, retains 60% period green painted finish with scattered flaking and some patches of oxidation. Mechanically fine. NOTE: This Destructive Device is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
