Offered here is an authentic example of a World War II German K98k double claw sniper rifle. Original examples of this highly sought after German sniper rifle variant are extremely rare, the likes of which even the most advanced collectors will search a long time to find. "Eagle/ZZA2" Waffen SS proof double stamped on the left of the receiver ring. Fitted with an Opticotechnica 4x scope marked "dow+" and serial numbered "4281" on the tube with three-post reticle and a period rubber eye protector, with its authentic double claw mount serial numbered "5148", and a correct leather sling with L&F maker marked buckle. Import marked on left side of receiver. The rear iron sight base is numbered "9213", a factory error as it is one number off the otherwise remaining matching numbered components with "9212". The stock only has one small "eagle/623" proof stamp visible behind the trigger guard with no other external markings, with "eagle/WaA77" proof stamp on the floorplate, and "eagle/77" proofs stamped on the bottom of the trigger housing. This exact gun is pictured on page 127 of the book "Backbone of the Wehrmacht Volume II: Sniper Variations of the German K98k Rifle" by Richard D. Very fine, retains 75% professionally restored blue finish on the barreled action with 40% original blue finish on the trigger guard assembly, scattered light handling marks, edge wear, and light spotting.
