Manufactured on a 1959 production Winchester Model 70 action that has been upgraded to its current configuration by Hartmann & Weiss. Built with a new blued steel barrel featuring a ramped beaded blade front sight, three-leaf (one standing, two folding) rear sight on the matted rear quarter rib, "HARTMANN & WEISS . HAMBURG - LONDON" marked in gold on the topside, front sling stud, and caliber and serial number on the left and right of the chamber respectively. The blued action is unadorned aside from the original "WINCHESTER" marking and a German proof on the left and serial number on the right. The action is topped by a Swarovski Habicht Nova 4x32mm scope with claw mounts. The bottom metal is similarly unadorned aside from engraved action pins. The rifle is mounted in a new beautifully figured and multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with an ebony forend tip, engraved recoil lug, blued steel grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, rear sling stud, and a rubber recoil pad. Included with the rifle is an extra Schmidt & Bender Zenith 1.5-6x42mm scope with German claw mounts fitted to the rifle and an full length Hartmann & Weiss leather case with sling, gilt stamped trade label, and canvas outer cover. Very fine as upgraded, retaining 99% reapplied blue finish to the action and 99% original blue finish on the barrel with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock. Both scopes have sharp optics. The case is excellent. Mechanically excellent. A great chance to own a re-imagined American classic enhanced with exceptional German craftsmanship!
