Very Fine Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle in Desirable .25-35 W.C.F. with Factory Letter

The Model 1894, like many other Winchester lever actions, saw widespread use in the American West well into the 20th century by ranchers and farmers due to their firepower and rugged dependability. The iconic Model 1894 is popular with today's collectors, and this turn of the century example is in very fine condition and will be a welcome addition to any lever action collection. The accompanying factory letter states the serial number was applied on June 20, 1899, and the rifle was received in the warehouse on July 24, 1899, and shipped on August 25 with an octagon barrel in .25-35 caliber and plain trigger, order number 35910. The rifle is fitted with a replacement Marbles 45W beaded blade front sight, elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight, and folding tang peep sight. The barrel has the two-line address marking and caliber designation on the top flat and the nickel steel marking on the upper left flat. It is mounted on plain walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. Provenance: The Collection of David L. DeLullo

ConditionVery fine, retaining 75% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. 30% of original nitre blue remain on the loading gate. The hammer and lever retain 70% original case colors. The refinished wood is fine with a repaired chip visible at the upper tang and minimal handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A solid representative example of the legendary Winchester Model 1894 lever action rifle in desirable .25-35 WCF.
