The lock is unmarked and has an engraved hunting scene with a hunter, dog, and stag, a wreath on the pan cover, and scrollwork and bestial designs on the components. The lock is fired using adjustable double set triggers. The stock has fine molding and fluting along the forend terminating in fleur-de-lis motifs ahead of the flats, "blackthorn" style texturing on the breech section with scroll accents, a hooked comb, wire inlaid scroll patterns with pin accents, wood patchbox lid with scroll engraved iron hardware, "7" inside a circle marked on the inside of the patchbox lid, engraved doe inlay between the lock screws, a leaping stag on the cheek piece, a scalloped border at the butt, and rounded iron buttplate. Provenance: The Collection of Joe M. Wanenmacher Jr; Property of a Gentleman

Rating Definition:

Very good with silver-gray patina on the lock and barrel with light pitting, darker gray patina on the furniture and accents, and general mild overall wear. The patchbox lid and/or patchbox hardware are replaced, and the trigger adjustment screw is absent. The rear lockplate screw is void of threads. The stock is also very good and has distinct fluting, carving, and some cracks, chips, and repairs. A very attractive German sporting gun.
