Description:

Adopted by the Soviets in 1928, the Degtyaryov was a mainstay light machine gun of the Red Army well into World War II, in addition to being captured and re-fielded in large quantities by the Finns during the Winter and Continuation Wars, given to the Chinese who used them against the Japanese and later in Korea and seen in action as late as 2011 during the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi. Hooded post front sight and tangent rear sights with a "1941" date and serial number (transliterated: LB531) on top of the receiver, a folding bipod clamped to the heat shield and the signature flat drum magazine. The underside of the receiver is marked "JPL T AZ85653", which is associated with NFA expert/gunsmith Pat Tomlinson, and the left side marked "SS IIX". The smooth pistol grip buttstock is fitted with a swelled "dog's leg" extension on the underside, with a naked butt and an oiler built into the comb.

Rating Definition:

Fine as assembled, with 60% of the refinished blue overall, showing areas of brown patina, mild spotting, and scattered scratches and dings. Some repair work visible at the end of the heat shield, and mild rust buildup inside the charging handle. The stock is also fine, with some rounding of the edges and mild dings and dents. Mechanically fine. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11.
