Manufactured in 1966 and built with blued steel barrels featuring a single nickel bead sight on the matted vent rib, "Fabrique Nationale Herstal" marked on the left of the upper tube and the chamber length "CAL. 12 2 3/4'" marked on the right, import mark near lumps, band of engraving at the breech, chokes marked modified/full, and chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated to a handsome coin finished sideplated action which displays extensive scroll engraving surrounding a trio of gold game scenes and extending onto the triggerguard, toplever, and both tangs. The game scenes show a covey of flushing pheasant on the left, a pair of quail in flight on the underside, and a flock of mallards landing on a pond on the right, all cut in detailed semi-relief gold inlay. The engraving is signed on the left side below the scene "P.LALLEMAND" for FN factory Master Engraver Pierre Lallemand. The gun features a single trigger and a tang mounted manual safety/selector with gold inlaid "S", "O', and "U" indicators. The gun is fitted with outstanding, highly figured and multi-point checkered three-piece forend with engraved fittings and a round knob pistol grip stock with a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bores nine inches from the breech measured at .728/.727 inches; choke constriction .017/.036 inches; minimum wall thickness .036/.036 inches; 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 7/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; cast-on; weight 7 lbs. 5 oz. Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue, coin, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. A fantastic chance to own a piece by an outstanding engraver!
