Manufactured in 1936, the first year of Model 70 production. The barrel is fitted with a ramped beaded blade front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight, and is marked with the model and caliber marking on the left with the Winchester address on the right. A Winchester "WP" proof is stamped on the left side of both the chamber and the receiver. The cloverleaf receiver is marked with the Winchester makers mark on the left and the serial number on the right of the receiver ring, and fitted with a Lyman Model 48 peep sight. Mounted in a checkered straight grain walnut pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as partially professionally refinished, retaining 95% refinished blue on the barrel and 98% original blue on the barrel with handling marks, some slightly softened markings/proofs, and a few dings under the finish. The revarnished stock is very fine with some handling wear around the slightly softened checkering and scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
