Description:

Manufactured in 1952-1953 and subsequently elaborately embellished. The revolver features near full coverage relief floral scroll engraving with floral blooms on both sides of the frame and on the top of the crane. The revolver is further decorated with two gold bands at both ends of the barrel and another at the rear of the cylinder, as well as a gold outline on the frame, and gold panels on the barrel and triggerguard. Though the magnificent work is unsigned, it is clearly the work of a master of the craft. The revolver is fitted with a set of S&W medallion target grips. Includes a Japanese weapon registration certificate dated July 1, 1958, registering this revolver to Lt. William J. Watson of the United States Navy for target practice purposes. It is possible the revolver was engraved during this stint in the Kanagawa Prefecture.

Rating Definition:

Excellent as professionally engraved and gold inlaid, retaining 99% plus blue finish with limited handling marks, an attractive plum coloration, and crisp engraving. The grips are very fine with handling marks, and a chip in the left panel. Mechanically excellent. This is your chance to get a beautifully engraved, and well traveled, S&W 357 revolver!
