Manufactured as a sales sample by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center with an alloy barrel shroud with a removable counterweight system. Though this prototype would garner no sales domestically, this revolver would become a limited edition of approximately 235 and exported to Wischo in Germany c. 1995-1996 with no other known examples found in the United States at the time of this writing. Fitted with Patridge blade front and fully adjustable rear sights. The left side of the frame bears the Performance Center logo and the right side under the grip is marked "PC 7979 005". The crane is marked "005," possibly a production number. Per page 448 of "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson: 4th Edition" this revolver was sold in 2002 after being retained by the factory for some years.
