Manufactured in 1893, the Winchester Model 1873 is known as one of the guns that "won the west" and was popularly paired with a Colt Single Action Army revolver in the same caliber. This Model 1873 is a third model, with the integral dust cover rail and dust cover with gripping serrations at the rear. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/King's patent marking and the caliber is marked at the breech. The caliber marking is repeated on the bottom of the cartridge elevator, serial number is on the lower tang, and the model designation is on the upper tang. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey-brown patina and some scattered brown speckling. 30% of the original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. The reoiled wood is very good with a minor crack on each side at the toe and some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
