Manufactured in 1895, this is an exceptionally fine Model 1886 that has been professionally upgraded to a special order deluxe configuration and is chambered in the ever-popular .45-70 WCF The Model 1886 was the first lever action repeater design by John Browning and came near the beginning of his long and fruitful relationship with Winchester. The top barrel flat has the standard two-line address and the caliber marking at the breech. The model marking is on the upper tang, while the two-line patent marking and serial number are on the lower tang. It is fitted with a combination front sight, folding ladder rear sight, and a tang mounted peep sight. It also has a special order pattern half magazine. It is mounted with a finely figured set of deluxe style, "H" pattern checkered forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. Provenance: Property of a Distinguished Southern Clergyman

Exceptionally fine as professionally restored and upgraded, retains 99% plus of the blue finish and vibrant case colors with only the slightest handling marks and crisp refreshed markings.
