Outstanding Remington Model 1875 Single Action Army Revolver in Desirable .44-40 W.C.F.

Approximately 25,000 Model 1875s were manufactured between 1875 and 1889 with this example being in outstanding condition. Surviving examples in exceptional condition are becoming difficult to find, as this model of revolver saw heavy use out West. The Model 1875 Single Action Army revolver was Remington's attempt to compete with the Colt Single Action Army. Although the revolver was arguably a better, more durable design than Colt's Single Action Army, the lack of government contracts and a slightly later start limited sales. Despite this, Remington's Model 1875 remained a desirable sidearm on the Western Frontier to those not caught up in the hype of Colt's revolver. The top of the barrel is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." The front flat of the frame on the left side is stamped "44," the caliber designation for .44-40 WCF. The underside of the frame is stamped with the number "77." The revolver features a blade front sight, a frame notch rear sight, the standard web-contoured ejector rod housing, and a fluted cylinder. The serial number is marked on the left side of the grip frame.

ConditionExcellent plus, retaining 99% plus of the untouched original nickel plating. 98% plus of the vivid original case colors remain on the hammer. The screws and trigger retain original nitre blue. The grips are also excellent with a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. An outstanding Remington Model 1875 Single Action Army revolver that would be impossible to improve upon!
