Description:

Manufactured in 1942, near the start of U.S. involvement in World War II. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration, grips not listed, as well as sale to the U.S. government and shipment to Springfield Armory on 26 May 1942. The left side of the slide is marked with the standard two-line address and patent dates, followed by the Rampant Colt, and the right side has the standard Service Model Ace and caliber markings. The right side of the frame has the serial number and "69" on the trigger guard. The left side of the frame has a double stamped boxed "W.B." inspection mark and "T/VP" on the trigger guard. The barrel is unmarked and has a polished chamber. It is fitted with blade front and adjustable notch rear sights, short checkered trigger, checkered arched mainspring housing, wide checkered hammer, long grip safety, checkered walnut grips, and a full blue magazine with Colt Service Model Ace markings on the base. Includes a shipping box with Rock Island Arsenal marked label, an extra magazine with Service Model Ace markings on the base, and a manual.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 98% plus of the professionally refinished blue finish with some very light edge wear, mostly restricted to the leading edges of the slide, and very minimal handling evidence. The grips are excellent with a few very light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is good, with a partly absent label.
