After the Korean War, the United States Marine Corps sought to replenish its small supply of sniper rifles, and starting in 1951, set out to evaluate equipment from both military inventory and on the civilian market to procure the best combination of rifle and optic. At the conclusion of these evaluations a Kollmorgen Optics Corp. 4x model based off of the civilian Stith Mounts "Bear Cub" sporting scope was selected, with a modified Griffin & Howe throw-lever mount, to be paired with the M1C Garand sniper rifle. With its greater magnification, tool-less knob adjustments, and audible adjustment clicks, the Kollmorgen was considered an improvement over the M82, and adopted as the MC-1. Features the serial number "MC 753-P" marked on top of the main tube, with "4X DOUBLE/STITH MOUNTS S.A., TEX./KOLLMORGEN OPTICAL CORP. BROOKLYN, N.Y./PAT. PEND." roll marked around the ocular bell. The top of the mount is marked "GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK/PAT.#1,856,549 MAY 3, 1932".

Exceptionally fine, retaining 90% plus original black finish with minor edge wear, small dings, and scuffs. Optics are mostly clear with minor clouding in the ocular lens and a crisp reticle. The mount is excellent with minor edge wear and handling evidence.
