Description:

Likely made in the late 19th century, this desirable five-pointed star law enforcement badge is marked "U.S. MARSHAL/DEPUTY/INDIAN TERR." with small engraved flourishes near each point. In 1851, the Federal Court for the Western District of Arkansas was created and held jurisdiction over multiple counties in Arkansas as well as all or most of Indian Territory until 1896. In 1907, Oklahoma gained statehood, effectively dissolving Indian Territory. Provenance: The Greg Lampe Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, remaining mostly bright with some mild wear and some light verdigris within the markings. A rare badge that would make a fantastic addition to a collection of the American West!
