Description:

This contemporary pipe tomahawk is not signed but was made by talented artisan William Buchele (1895-1977). It is very similar to signed examples of his work we have sold recently and uses some of the same motifs. The head is mostly iron with attractive filework, scroll/floral engraving, and brass bowl and accents. The smooth curly maple shaft has a German silver federal style eagle on one side, two double arrows, wire inlays, and a German silver mouthpiece.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The iron displays an attractive, custom aged brown finish/patina. The brass shows attractively aged patina, and the German silver is bright. The shaft is also very fine with a few minor dings and scratches and nice flame figure.
