Scarce U.S. Irwin-Pedersen M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine

Formed in the 1940s by the Irwin family, Michigan based furniture makers, and arms designer John Pedersen, Irwin-Pedersen produced approximately 150,000 M1 carbines before the Ordnance Department canceled their contract, making the Irwin-Pedersen the most scarce of the M1 Carbines. Features a "3-43" dated Underwood barrel, type I barrel band, "S'G'" blued flat top bolt, "S'G'" milled trigger group, "S'G'" hammer, "SW-IP" sear, "IP" type 2 slide, "PN" blade front sight, flip-up rear peep sight with "S" marked base, and standard markings on the receiver heel. Fitted with a high wood smooth walnut stock with "IP" marked in the stock channel, "I" cut oiler recess, "IP" and "ordnance wheel" cartouches on the right side, and checkered steel buttplate, topped off with a "IR-IP" marked two-rivet handguard. Irwin-Pedersen magazine marked "K-IP." Includes a web sling and oiler.

ConditionVery fine as restored back to World War II configuration, retaining 90% parkerized and blue finishes with dried grease, minor pitting on the slide, minor edge wear, limited spotting, and some smooth brown patina on the barrel band. Stock is also very fine as re-oiled, with a repaired chip at the nose of the handguard. Mechanically excellent.
