Description:

Manufactured c. 1856-1860s and featuring a dovetailed post front sight, notch rear sight, "COGSWELL. &. HARRISON. 223. &. 224. STRAND. LONDON." signed across the top, London proofs, "No. 16,897.T." on the right side of the frame, "W. TRANTER'S/PATENT" on the loading lever and left side of the frame, "HH" also marked on the latter, scroll engraving, and a checkered walnut grip with a casehardened end cap. The revolver comes in a fitted oak case with baize lining, a fine Cogswell & Harrison trade label, and a set of accessories. Provenance: Property of a Distinguished Southern Clergyman

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus original finish, mostly silvered out case colors on the cylinder, crisp engraving, and minor overall wear. The grip is also very fine with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine, and the accessories are fine with minor wear.
