Description:

Manufactured in 1932. These Super .38 pistols were first shown to the public at the August 1928 Camp Perry National Matches and were available for purchase by the start of 1929. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration, grips not listed, as well as shipment to Rice & Miller in Bangor, Maine on 21 July 1932 as a single gun shipment. The left side of the matching numbered slide is marked with the two-line address and patent dates, while the right side bears the model and caliber marking along with the Rampant Colt, which was lightly struck by the factory. The serial number is on the right of the frame, the second digit fairly light which appears to be due to a worn factory stamp. The left of the trigger guard is marked "W" over "VP", and the right is marked "60". The blued barrel is unmarked and has a polished chamber hood. Fitted with blade and notch rear sights, wide checkered hammer, long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring housing, checkered grips, and a full blue .38 Super Auto magazine. Includes the original matching numbered box.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original high polish blue finish with some very light edge wear and a few very light handling/takedown marks. The grips are also excellent with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is exceptionally fine with some light handling/storage wear, mostly on edges. One would search a long time to find a better example with the original box!
