Description:

A part of the "Second Alphabet Run: Second Variation" production block in which Mauser switched from using a dull blue finish to phosphate from July 1944 onward as described on page 30 of "The P.38 Pistol: Volume II" by Warren H. Buxton. It is also noted on the same page that the change occurred somewhere in the "b" suffix serial range and that surplus blue components were used in production as well, with this example displaying all phosphate finish. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, black plastic grips, and "eagle/WaA135" acceptance proofs on the left side of the barrel, frame, and right side of the slide. Matching serial numbers on the slide, frame, barrel, and locking block. Includes an "eagle/WaA938" proofed and "9 oak leaf/1944" marked P 38 leather flap holster and two "P.38 v/U" marked magazines with phosphate finish and dual rib followers.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine, retaining 85% plus original phosphate finish with scattered minor spotting, thinning on the front grip strap, and minor edge wear. Grips are excellent as replaced, with some light scratches. Mechanically excellent. Holster is fine with some scuffs and lost stitching.
