In 1967 Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli founded Fabbrica Armi di Mario Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli, more commonly known as FAMARS. Since the beginning the two have been innovators in the world of fine arms and have made a name for themselves creating some of the finest bespoke guns ever built. This gun was built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib with hand cut "Armi Famars" marking, light engraving at the breech, 1975 dated Italian proofs on the flats, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors. The barrels are mated to a gorgeous coin finished sidelock action displaying gorgeous English pattern bouquet and scroll patterns which make fantastic use of negative space which works its way across all the surfaces including the top lever and right hand rolled triggerguard. The engraving is signed on the triggerplate on the right side of the trigger "Contessa". The gun is fitted with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and "FARMARS" marked shield and crown initial escutcheon and a straight grip stock with a checkered bare butt. Included with the gun is an Americase takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proofed at 18.5/18.5mm (.728/.728 inches) and measured .729/.730 inches; choke constriction .012/.028 inches; minimum wall thickness .020/.020 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 7 oz.

Excellent, retaining 99% plus original blue and coin finishes with some light handling marks, and crisp engraving. Wood is very fine with some scattered dings and scratches and crisp stock and forend checkering. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine.
