Description:

A predecessor of the Roth-Steyr pistol, the Roth-Sauer is built around a long recoil action, similar clip-loaded internal magazine in the grip, and utilizing the proprietary 7.65 mm Roth ammunition. Fixed blade and notch sights, the Sauer address on the top rib, "PATENT-/ROTH." on the frame above the chamber and the Sauer logo at the rear. Fitted with a knurled cocking knob, smooth trigger, and checkered grips with raised Sauer logos. The sideplate is engraved "PREMIO/ARMERIA CANEDO/1921" and stamped "C. CANEDO/611.RIVADAVIA.611/Bs AIRES"; Juan Canedo was the successor of Don Alfredo Gottling, and his shop, also known as "Casa Canedo" (the House of Canedo) and "La Portena", was a major importer of then-cutting edge American and European firearms. The included case has a black leatherette exterior and red felt interior, with a gold printed leather label from La Portena on the lid, one stripper clip, and a box of "System G. Roth" marked 7.65mm ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% plus bright original blue finish, showing bright edge wear and minor handling marks. The grips are very fine, with some rubbing on the lower edges and minor shrinkage. The case is fine, with internal stains and overall wear appropriate to age, and the box is very good. Mechanically excellent.
