Description:

Manufactured about 1900, this is an early pattern "large ring flat side" Broomhandle pistol. Blade front and thousand-meter tangent rear sights, with the "crown/crown/U" proof on the left side of the chamber, "antler" style proof on the right, and "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF a/N" on top. The hammer is the early "large ring" configuration, with a matching early safety and the flat-sided frame. Matching numbers are present on a number of components, including the floor plate, follower, bolt, hammer assembly and 23-groove hardwood grips. With a hardwood shoulder stock, which is numbered "23155" on the mounting iron.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 40% of the original blue finish, showing bright wear on the high edges and underside of the barrel, areas of brown patina, minor spotting, and light scratches and handling marks. The initials "AM" appear to have been scratched into the backstrap, just above the stock slot. The refinished grips are very good with some light scratches and dings, and the refinished shoulder stock shows minor dings and a mixed patina on the refinished metal hinge. Mechanically excellent.
