Description:

Manufactured early 1941, this is a rare early production commercial HSc pistol with the low grip screw placement, seen in the 700000-701000 serial range. Reportedly, approximately 1,350 of these early production frames were manufactured by Mauser with the low grip screw placement, and it was decided to assemble and sell them this way due to demand before moving the grip screw position up 3/4 of an inch on production examples made after. A reported 500 of the low grip screw HSc pistols went to the Kriegsmarine, with one example known to have been purchased by the army, and the remainder sold commercially like this example. Fixed sights, with the Mauser banner and 2-line address, model, and caliber markings on the left side of the slide, "eagle/N" German proofs on the right front of the slide, right of the chamber (concealed by the slide) and right side of the trigger guard. The underside of the barrel is matching numbered "261" to the frame, with "787" hand etched on the bottom front surface of the slide.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 95% original blue finish with some high edge wear, a small area of finish loss visible on the right of the slide, and a few small patches of light freckling on the grip straps. Grips are very fine with some light wear and handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
