An example of a third variation Model 1900 Swiss military contract Luger with the "E" prefix serial number, discussed on page 27 of "The Swiss Variations" by Fred Datig. Only a very few pistols in the "E588 to E735" serial number range have been reported, with many being re-serialized with an "A" suffix. These pistols were further used as test pistols by the Swiss and subsequently upgraded, as is the case with this example which is fitted with Model 1906 style mainspring, toggle assembly, and bolt. Features fixed blade front and "U" notch rear sights, rapid taper barrel, old style long frame, and grip safety. The top of the chamber is marked with Swiss "cross in shield" crest, and "DWM" monogram is on the front toggle link. The left side of the barrel extension is marked with Swiss "cross" and "P50," indicating release for private sale in 1950, along with another "cross" proof on the side of the barrel. Matching visible serial numbers on the barrel and frame, with "790" on the extension and rear toggle, along with "90" partials on the side plate, front toggle link, and bolt. Fitted with niter blue and straw colored small parts, along with a set of checkered walnut grips. The nickel finished magazine is fitted with a hardwood base with aluminum inserts.

Very fine, retaining 75% plus arsenal refurbished blue finish and straw colors with scattered light handling marks, faint spotting, minor thinning on the grip frame and safety, and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically needs work as the trigger does not properly function.
