Description:

Manufactured in 1945 without the standard Walther banner or marking on the slide. It is estimated that a few thousand of these late war Walther Model PP pistols were completed before the factory was overrun by U.S. forces in April 1945. This exact pistol is photographed on page 231 of the book "Axis Pistols" by Jan C. Still. The lot is also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from noted author Jan C. Still's family verifying it was in his personal collection. The left side of the frame is marked with an "eagle/F" German police acceptance stamp, "eagle/N" proofs on the right of the slide and chamber, and "ac" code on the right of the slide. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights a 60-degree safety lever and lacks a loaded chamber indicator. Fitted with checkered "Walther banner" marked plastic grips. Provenance: The Jan C. Still Collection; Property of a Gentleman

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 80% original blue finish with thinning on the grip straps and some light high edge wear. The left grip is fine with a large crack in the middle, and the right grip is very fine, with some light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
