This early production high polish blue Sauer 38H is the exact pistol photographed on page 51 of the book "Axis Pistols" by Jan C. Still. The lot is also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from noted author Jan C. Still's family verifying it was in his personal collection. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the two-line Sauer address and caliber marking on the left side of the slide, "PATENT" on the right, an "eagle/37 German military acceptance proof on the left of the trigger guard, "eagle/N" proof on the right of the frame, slide and muzzle end of the barrel, and fitted with a set of checkered grip panels with the "SuS" logo on the left panel. Very fine, retains 80% original blue finish with some light edge wear, thinning on the rear grip strap, an area of finish loss on the right of the slide, freckling and some minor pitting. Grips are also very fine with some light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
