Description:

Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company's Galazan line of guns are undeniably among the finest guns produced in the United States. They are built by some of the finest craftsman in the country and engraved by a network of master engravers of only the highest caliber, with this early production gun being a shining example. The gun was built with blued steel barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the matted flat solid rib, "CONNECTICUT SHOTGUN MFG. CO. A. GALAZAN" signed on the left of the upper tube, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated with an exceptionally well engraved and coin finished sidelock action displaying extremely intricate game bird scene engraving with "GALAZAN" in gold on either side. The game scenes consist of two fighting pheasant cocks with a third cock fleeing the battle in the foreground with two hens, a fourth cock, and floral designs in the background on the left side, the underside has a covey of grouse with some taking flight in the foreground and a single grouse in the background along with some acorns, and the right side displays five woodcocks flushing from cover with a pointer the cause at the center. In addition to the main scenes there is a bust of a quail as well as a single quail in flight on the triggerguard, a pheasant cock on the upper tang, and a grouse, woodcock, quail, and pheasant on the lower tang along with the serial number inlaid in gold. All of the engraving is cut in excruciating detail in the bulino style by the hand of Italian Master Engraver and founding partner of the leading engraving firm Creative Art, Giacomo Fausti, who has signed his work "G. FAUSTI Creative Art" on the triggerplate to the right of the trigger. The gun features gold centerline cocking indicators on either lockplate, a single non-selective trigger, and a tang mounted manual safety with a gold inlaid "S" safety indicator. The gun is mounted with a beautiful highly figured and multi-point checkered forend with coin finished and engraved Anson button release and Boss style extended forend shoe as well as a straight grip stock with tear drop carved drop points and engraved and coin finished heel and toe plates around a checkered bare butt. Included is a wood and leather takedown case, a pair of gold snap caps, gold oiler, and cleaning tools. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .622/.622 inches; choke constriction .008/.016 inches; minimum wall thickness .034/.034 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 10 oz.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and crisp engraving. There are a few scratches and pressure marks mostly on the stock, otherwise; the wood is excellent with sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent. Do not miss this chance at fantastic piece which embodies the Rock Island Auction Company mindset "Not All Art is Framed"!
