Description:

Manufactured in 1871, this is one of approximately 7,500 manufactured known as the "cloverleaf" variation, due to the shape of their four-shot cylinder. This specific revolver is a very rare variation, featuring a 1 1/2 inch octagon barrel, and it is pictured and briefly described on p. 184 of "The William M. Locke Collection". The left of the barrel is marked "COLT". The serial number is marked on the butt and matching serial number hand marked inside both grip panels. The revolver also in the "Cowboy Culture Book". Provenance: The William M. Locke Collection; The Charles Marx Collection

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine, retains 90% plus of the original nickel finish with a small patch of light flaking on the sideplate and a few scattered light handling marks. There are several patches of dark pitting on the sides of the hammer. The re-finished grips are fine with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
