Description:

The Colt Single Action Army Revolver is arguably the most iconic American handgun. In the hands of ranchers, cavalrymen, Native Americans, lawmen, and outlaws, the Peacemaker’s legacy was forged out in the hostile American West and continues to gain popularity among today's collectors. Offered here is a very attractive example of the legendary Peacemaker chambered in the iconic .45 LC caliber that made it out West. The accompanying factory letter states the revolver was shipped to Colt's San Francisco Agency, San Francisco, California, on August 10, 1899 with a 4 3/4 inch barrel in .45 caliber, blue finish, and type of stocks not listed. This was a ten gun shipment. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address on top and "45 COLT" on the left side. The frame has the two-line patent dates followed by an encircled Rampant Colt. The number "8" is stamped on the right side of the trigger guard. A sterling silver overall lay is featured on the right grip panel below the screw. The overlay feature relief scrollwork and engraved script initials. The matching serial number appears on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, and both grip panels. Provenance: The TTT Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% original blue finish with holster and edge wear and grip straps thinning to a brown. 75% original case colors remain on the hammer and frame. There is a small chip at the top of right panel, otherwise the period personalized grips are excellent with a few handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
