Description:

According to the included factory letter, this pistol was part of a 745-piece group destined for the Transport Officer of the Springfield Ordnance Depot on September 18, 1945. This would be just over 2 weeks after the official signing of the Japanese surrender documents on the deck of the USS Missouri on September 2nd. The letter confirms the major features, including the finish and sights. Blade front and square notch adjustable rear sights, with the two-line address and patent dates on the left side of the slide near the Rampant Colt, the Colt Ace markings on the right, and a "JSB" inspected frame with thin knurled hammer, long grip safety, serrated slide stop and mainspring housing, a pair of reinforced grips (Colt left, Keyes Fibre right), and a weighted Service Model magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 97% of the original parkerized finish, showing some light scratches, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The grips are very fine, with some mild dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
