Manufactured in 1911. It is one of only 925 Single Action Army Flattop Target Revolvers in all calibers Colt manufactured between 1888 and 1896. It is one of only 100 standard flattop target models chambered in .45 Long Colt, so surviving examples are scarce in any condition and are highly regarded and sought after by collectors (see David Brown's "The 36 Calibers of the Colt Single Action Army," page 70). In fact, the Colt Single Action Army Flattop revolver is one of the most highly sought after models by Colt collectors. This is a high condition example well deserving of the most advanced public or private collection and is the finest example of a standard flattop SAA revolver in .45 Long Colt we have had the pleasure of cataloging. You are certainly looking at a rarity in Colt collecting! Not only rare, these revolvers were a very attractive and well finished variation, finished in all high polished blue finish with a casehardened hammer. The revolver has the flat top strap with flat sides and dovetailed target rear sight. The adjustable front sight has a German silver ribbed blade. The barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on top and marked "45 COLT" on the left side. The left side of the frame has the standard two-line patent dates followed by an encircled Rampant Colt. The left side of the trigger guard is marked with the letter "W" and the Colt factory triangle proof. The checkered black hard rubber grips have the Rampant Colt trademark in an oval at the top of the grip. Matching serial numbers appear on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, and both grip panels. Excellent, retaining 95% bright original high polish blue finish with some thinning on the grip straps, some high edge wear, and a cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. This extremely attractive Colt Single Action Army Flattop Target Model .45 LC Revolver is must have for the serious collector. You will need to wait a long time to discover another example in this condition!
