Manufactured in 1901. The bottom of the frame is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1901/No/167/146." The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address and patent markings on top and "COLT D.A.38" on the left. "R.A.C." inspectors marks are stamped on the upper left rear corner of the frame, the rear of the cylinder and the bottom of the grips. The frame, cylinder crane and cylinder unlocking latch have matching numbers. Smooth walnut grips numbered "7146" (last four digits of serial number) in ink on the rear of both panels, with no visible cartouches. It has the Colt high polish blue finish overall with the heat blued trigger and hammer with the sides of the hammer being factory polished. Includes a brown leather holster marked "ROCK ISLAND/ARSENAL/1905/ T.C" on the back, "G.V" on the flap and "US" on the front with lanyard.

Excellent, with 95% of the bright original high polish blue finish remaining. A mixed plum and gray patina is forming on the backstrap and trigger guard and gray on the high edges, along with some light scratches and spotting. Grips are also excellent. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine, with some scuffing and scratches.
